About the farm

Oz Farm and Retreat Center is a multifaceted community that aspires to engage the public through immersive education in sustainable food systems and holistic life practices. The farm is hidden in a quiet, private valley on one of the most pristine stretches of the scenic Mendocino County coast, 130 miles north of San Francisco. Bordered by redwood forests with the Garcia River running through its 240 acres, Oz Farm is blessed with tranquility, fresh air and clear water. Oz Farm is ‘off-the-grid’, using solar and wind power for all its operations. The Mendocino coast has many sleepy beach towns and unpopulated beaches, world class waves, diving, and great hiking.

About the work exchange

A strong, stable person  who can fully engage the farm and has a natural curiosity for understanding agriculture and developing work skills is needed from march to november on Oz Farm. You should be a good team member, be present and ready to work with a sense of urgency.

Your tasks would include

• transplanting, propagation, weeding, pruning, harvest and field maintenance
• cabin preparation for retreats, landscaping and community upkeep

Living conditions

• Private 10×12 tent cabin with wood burning stove, running water, and small solar array.

Meals

Access to the communal farm kitchen that is stocked with:

• seasonal farm fresh produce
• bulk food items (no meat or dairy)
• outdoor shower and bathtub
• large front and back porch
• a lounge area with loft space for guests.
• family-style dinner 5 nights/week. We cannot provide for special dietary needs.
• the opportunity to pursue passion projects on the farm outside of the work week.

Stipend

$300 a month for personal expenses.
