Mahamudra Centre for Universal Unity is situated on 8 acres in the inspirational setting of Colville Valley, Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand. Surrounded by meadows, woods and the lovely hills of the Coromandel range, it creates an ambience conducive to peace, calm and healing.

About the wor exchange / volunteer program

Mahamudra Centre is busy, so there is an ongoing need for volunteers throughout the year. The centre offers volunteers lodging in the volunteer dorm with shared showers/toilets, free daily meditation, and free access to courses as duties permit.

We are unable to provide meals or food, but volunteers have access to our kitchen to prepare their own meals.

Volunteers are asked to work 3.5 hours a day, 5 days a week. The work is varied but includes housekeeping, gardening, maintenance, and other miscellaneous tasks.

Volunteers may stay for one week or up to three months; however before committing, please consider whether you can live contently in a somewhat isolated rural area for an extended period of time.

Please be aware that there is no public transportation in the area if you are interested in exploring the area.

Although you do not have to be Buddhist to volunteer at Mahamudra Centre, it is really important that volunteers have a positive connection to Buddhist Dharma and abide by the Centre guidelines.

They’re grateful for any offering of special skills. Some examples of current needs include digital archiving, librarian cataloguing, spiritual programme support, carpentry and flooring, graphic design, and more.
