The Shelter Hostels Amsterdam offers comfortable, affordable accommodation in two hostels located in the old part of the city with narrow streets,canals and beautiful 17th century houses. The hostels are poviding an unique Amsterdam experience right in the city center, where you will be able to reach all major tourist attractions easily on foot or by public transport or by bike if you wish.

About the work exchange program

If you are looking for room and board in Amsterdam, this porogram is the right choice. Cleaners are neeeded year around in the Shelter City Hostel Amsterdam or the Shelter Jordan Amsterdam Hostel, for minimum 2 weeks, maximum 28 days. Work exchangers are expected to be on the job 5 hours / day, until 3 pm.

What will you receive in exchange for your hard work?

• Free laundry service.
• Three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) + all drinks included.
• Free accommodation in the hostel.
• Time off every afternoon after 3pm to search for housing and a more permanent job in Amsterdam.
• Cleaner team meeting every day with Bible reading and prayer (being a Christian is not a requirement for this job in Amsterdam), but it’s imprtant to know that both hostels are managed by Chrisitans.
• FREE optional Alpha Course – an introduction to the Christian faith

Requirements

• You are over 18, but younger than 40.
• Good attitude and work ethic
• Ability to understand and speak English
• Valid passport and permission to be in the Netherland

Daily schedule

The teams starts every day at 10am and finishes around 3pm, including a break for lunch with the rest of the staff.

Additional information

Since these are Christian hostels, a special aspect of the cleaner program is that you’ll begin your work with a thirty minute discussion covering topics about the Bible and Christianity. Although you are not required to be Christian to work in the cleaning team, please respect other people’s faith.
