Holiday camp - work exchange in EnglandBells of Hemscott is a seaside site set on a working farm on the Northumberland Coast, England. The property is in a large meadow overlooking a large pond filled with wildlife, resident swans and other birdlife. It’s within walking distance from a seven-mile stretch of sandy beach at Druridge Bay and is surrounded by castles, country houses, museums and heaps of walking and cycling trails. There’s a café and an ice cream shop about a mile from the site, and the market towns of Amble, Alnwick and Morpeth are all a short drive or bus ride away.

Volunteering opportunities now available on the campsite in exchange for a free stay. You could stay  free of charge in one of the unfurnished Bell Tents in the Canvas Village in exchange for helping around the campsite for so many hours a day.

Campsite Caretaker weeks run from Thursday to Thursday and you will stay in one of the Bell Tents for a week and in exchange you work for 20 hours per person over 16 in your party. Families are welcome at least 2 adults are necessary to be onsite of bringing young children.

You will have access to all of the Canvas Village facilities and if it is early in the season may have the whole place to yourself during the week. You will also have access to the facilities including lounge, kitchen, showers in our newly developed bunkhouse.

Volunteer duties

  • cleaning tents
  • making beds
  • keeping loos mopped and stocked with loo roll
  • tidying kitchen
  • weeding
  • recycling
  • setting up equipment for guests,
  • cleaning BBQs and kitchen boxes
  • helping clean in the bunkhouse
  • helping with the farm animals and alpacas (optional!) and other general duties.

Volunteers are asked to take it in turns at being on-duty on an evening in case there are any problems on site.

Breakfast is provided each day in the Bunkhouse and you’re more than welcome to attend the Wednesday night dinners .

The following tents are available

  • 2x 3m Bells available for solo carekaters
  • 3 x 4m Bells available for couples / 2 friends
  • 1 x 5m Bell Tent suitable for a family.

Volunteering opportunities run from Thursday 14 July to Thursday 15 September  for a minimum of 1 week (no maximum).
