Comfortable on site accommodation makes it easy to settle in and feel at home. Keep reading for all the details on how you can join this meaningful volunteer experience.

About the free volunteer program

This volunteer opportunity is with Viva! Poland at their animal sanctuary located in Korabiewice, roughly an hour outside Warsaw. The sanctuary rescues hundreds of animals every year including dogs, cats, horses, goats, pigs, cows, chickens, geese, foxes and raccoon dogs.
The grounds cover about 60 acres of countryside fields. Volunteers are warmly welcomed to help care for these animals while living and working on site in a rural setting.

Requirements

  • A genuine compassion and respect for animals.
  • Willingness to commit time — ideally at least two weeks, though availability and dedication may be discussed depending on need.
  • Physical fitness and readiness to perform a variety of tasks (some can be physically demanding).
  • Ability to follow guidelines around hygiene and animal care.
  • As the sanctuary is somewhat remote, volunteers need to fund their own transport to the site (but accommodation is provided).

Your responsibilities

  • Feeding, watering and caring for animals across different species — from dogs and cats to farm animals.
  • Cleaning and maintaining enclosures — including dog runs, cat houses, stables or barns for horses, goats, cows, pigs, etc.
  • Walking dogs and helping with their socialisation and rehabilitation — including animals rescued from difficult circumstances.
  • Assisting with general upkeep of the sanctuary grounds and helping with daily tasks to ensure the animals’ wellbeing.

What’s in it for You?

  •  You get to contribute meaningfully to the welfare of many animals in need and help them find safety and care.
  • Living on-site gives you a chance to immerse yourself in peaceful rural life, surrounded by nature and a wide variety of animals.
  • You also join a community of like-minded people  working together toward a shared mission.

This program can also offer valuable experience for anyone interested in animal welfare, rescue work or even future veterinary or animal-care related paths.
