Chuckleberry is a community of inspired individuals operating an off-grid farm in the Selkirk Mountains providing micro greens and produce year round to the restaurants and retailers in the Nelson community and surrounding areas. The farm provides a smoke, drug and alcohol free environmentwhere you can practice yoga, pranayama and meditation, as well as sharing meaningful work that also creates greater sustainability and food security.

About the work exchange and volunteer program

Chuckleberry provides an opportunity for volunteers to have a hands on experience of service in a community setting. One of the things this means is that everyone works together to serve the needs of the farm as opposed to personal preferences, even though your host do accommodate preferences when they can.

The Chuckleberry Community farm crew is comprised of a group of individuals handpicked to participate in the community due to their desire to live with conscious awareness, authenticity and mindfulness in a sustainable way.

Work at the farm may involve working in the greenhouse, gardens, office, etc. This work helps instill belonging, skill building, and self-trust. Being a part of a team instills awareness in working in a relationally attuned way, as well as building friendships.

The work flow consists of 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, for a total of 30 hours a week. Volunteers will have two full free days off. There are also 2 hours of required Emotional Intelligence group trainings a week.

Preference is given to those who can commit to a longer period of time.  A commitment of at least 3 months allows for weekly Emotional Intelligence training and free admission to all Chuckleberry evening workshops during your stay.
