Cara Creek Eco Lodge is located in a beautiful area of Central Portugal. The majestic valley is nestled within the foothills of the Serra da Estrela Mountain Range where the Rio Seia meets the Rio Mondego. Cara Creek Eco Lodge is a project that has evolved into a dream built by combining individual passions – natural building and wellness.
Cara Creek Eco Lodge maintains a low carbon footprint by being completely off grid. The lodge uses fire wood sourced from the land for cooking and to heat water for showers, and the wood fired hot tub. Electricity is powered by solar, drinking water is supplied by the lodge’s own mountain spring.
There is also a natural swimming pool which remains completely chemical free at all times by using plants, as well as a UV and sand filter to keep the water clear.

Cara Creek offers work exchange opportunity to learn about natural building, about living more sustainably and off-grid, what it takes to run a retreat center, gardening, cooking, looking after the farm animals and pets, and more.
All this and living in a beautiful place right on the River! They provide tent accommodation and food 7 days per week in exchange for 25 hours of work per week.
