Garden School Victoria & farm is located in small community in Honduras, surrounded by mountains and a short drive away from one of Honduras’ biggest cities. The school has a supportive and loving community that creates a safe learning environment for over 200 students.

About the work exchange & volunteer program

Garden School Victoria is a bilingual school located in an impoverished area of Honduras. Their mission is to offer a solid bilingual education at an affordable price so that students have more opportunities in the future and can break the cycle of poverty many families in Honduras are trapped in.
Native or near-native English speakers are neeeded to help to create engaging, dynamic classroom environments while helping students to imporve their English skills. Volunteers also become part of the school community and often become helpers for our students who they can turn to if they are dealing with difficulties in their family.

In addition, the volunteers will have a chance to work in the animal rescue center run by the school.
The live-in volunteers also work with local volunteers on special projects such as creating a solar hot water heater out of recycled materials, building a composting toilet, planting food forests or starting a new garden. If you’re an experienced horse rider, you’ll have a chance to lead horse rides to the beach organized by the school!

A 3-month commitment is necessary in order to participate in this program. Spanish language skills are not required, nor is prior teaching experience.

What’s in it for You?

There is no charge for the volunteers to come and stay at the farm.Either an indoor bed in a shared cabin or a place to pitch your tent will be provided along with free meals.
Volunteers will receive a 50 USD monthly stipend and free airport transfer as well. Visa related costs and any medical expenses incurred while in Honduras are covered.
