In southern Hungary’s Great Plain, a small family-run campsite welcomes volunteers to experience life on a traditional farm—a historic countryside homestead now transformed into a nature-focused camping site. The grounds combine rustic charm with modern comforts: wide-open fields, shady woodlands, a natural saltwater pool, and starlit skies at night. Visitors find themselves immersed in a landscape rich with wildlife and rural traditions, while cultural treasures like the Ópusztaszer National Historical Park are only a short trip away. It’s an inviting opportunity for anyone who enjoys outdoor life, simple comforts, and meaningful contributions in a peaceful rural setting.
About the free volunteer program
Volunteers can join year-round, staying in a caravan, furnished tent, or—in the cooler months—a cozy guesthouse room with private bathroom. In return for about 12 hours of support per week, they gain plenty of free time to explore the surroundings, relax, or work remotely. The site blends the hospitality of a campsite with the authenticity of a historic tanya, offering both a base for discovery and a retreat into nature.

- Minimum stay of two weeks; longer stays are especially welcome.

- Independence, reliability, and appreciation for quiet, rural life.

- Personal transport is useful, though transfers and shopping trips can be arranged.
Your tasks
Depending on the season, volunteers may:
- Cut and prepare firewood (January–April; chain saw experience is helpful).
- Assist with campsite setup and closure in spring and autumn (furniture, tents, cleaning).
- Help during camping season (mid-April to mid-October) with cleaning, pool and garden upkeep, and vegetable garden care.
