Farm volunteering in exchange for room and board in Washington state
Leaning Tree Farm is located in Eastern Washington State between Soap Lake and Moses Lake settled among tall evergreens and maple trees. It’s a sanctuary in the high desert that dominates this part of the state. The farm raises Boer goats, alpacas, free-range chickens and also cares for feral cats.
Work exchange & volunteer program description
Animals are top priority on the farm, so volunteers must love and respect animals. You willl get up with the sun every morning and feed all the animals before coming inside to eat your own hearty breakfast. After breakfast, you’ll go back outside to accomplish any special chores scheduled for for that day cleaning out kidding pens, cleaning and filling water tanks, vaccinating, worming, and trimming goats’ feet, weeding the garden, etc… There are also baby goats which needs to be fed by bottles 3 times a day.
There is always things to do. You will be asked to work 4 hours each day, starting in with the morning feeding, in exchange for free room and full board. Your host will provide all food and typically cook breakfast and dinner, unless you want something different. Lunch and snacks are selected/prepared by the volunteer from the food that they have in the cupboard and fridge (and garden!). If this all sounds good to you, please contact Leaning Tree Farm! 🙂
