Clove Valley Farm is a beautiful, community-powered farm tucked into a stunning valley on the Shawangunk Ridge in High Falls, NY—just 20 minutes from Kingston and New Paltz, and only 1.5 hours north of NYC. It’s not just a farm—it’s also a market garden, nursery, and a space for learning, creativity, and healing. The farm is inviting new interns and work exchangers to join the 2025 season, read on for more details!
About the work exchange program
This is a chance to exchange part-time work for housing, food, and a one-of-a-kind learning experience. If you commit to the full season (April/May through September/October), you may also be eligible for a small stipend.
Responsibilites
You’ll help out with farm tasks, cook community meals, join group meetings and educational sessions, and even go on field trips to other nearby farms.
The work schedule is about 20 hours a week, leaving plenty of time for personal projects or part-time jobs—and there are often extra opportunities to get involved if you want more.
You will get to be part of everything—from growing veggies, herbs, and flowers for the Woodstock Farm Market, to starting seedlings and caring for the nursery. No two days are the same, and the atmosphere is fun, relaxed, and supportive.
What’s in it for You?
- Real experience working on a no-till, small-scale farm.
- Fresh, delicious meals and a cozy place to stay.
- Time for yourself, with a flexible schedule.
- A chance to learn, not just about farming, but about living in community.
- New friendships—many past interns have stayed connected or even settled nearby.
- Gorgeous surroundings, with hikes, swimming spots, and quiet places to relax.
Even if you’re not staying at the farm, you’re welcome to join in during community work hours. It’s a great way to get involved, meet people, and take home some fresh produce.
Farm life
Interns live in a shared space on the ground floor of a big old Dutch barn, with a well-stocked communal kitchen, a comfy living room, and Wi-Fi. There’s also an outdoor kitchen and patio for enjoying meals outside.
Sleeping arrangements include unique and cozy “glamping” setups—large tents on platforms with real beds and tarped private areas. Some are even big enough for couples. It’s rustic, but really beautiful.
If you’re coming from NYC, we can help with transportation to and from the Rosendale Trailways bus stop.
Weekly Schedule (Summer)
Here’s a typical week on the farm during the main season:
- Monday: 8am–1pm (includes an education session), then lunch.
- Tuesday: 8am–4pm (long lunch break), with a community meeting at 4.
- Wednesday: 8am–1pm (optional trip to the Woodstock Market in the afternoon).
- Thursday: 3–7pm, followed by a community dinner and a fire.
The schedule shifts a little in early spring and late fall depending on the weather.
No experience needed—just bring curiosity, a good attitude, and a willingness to pitch in.
