The Won Dharma Center is located in Claverack, New York on a beautiful 426-acre property with panoramic view of the Catskill Mountains. It’s surrounded by wooded foothills overlooking the Hudson Valley, and is conveniently located near both New York City and Boston. WDC is an Open Circle of teachers and students, neighbors and visitors, young and old, from any faith to no faith with the aim of reduce and eliminate suffering in the world and to provide a safe and eco-friendly space for nurturing holistic well-being and spiritual growth.

About the volunteer and work exchange program

Volunteering is an expression of dana (generosity), which is one of the best ways to pacify and center our minds and also a great way to reduce our egos, the source of all our worries and concerns. The Won Dharma Center provides a wonderful opportunity for people who would like to serve others and deepen their practice.

By serving others while living a simple lifestyle in a unique, serene environment, with like-minded people, one can not only center and purify one’s mind, but also enlighten this society, which is the vision of the Won Dharma Center.

The Won Dharma Center is located in the midst of a beautiful natural setting and has many on-going activities ranging from regular dharma service, morning sitting meditation and evening chanting sitting/moving meditation, to personal guidance from the resident ministers. Volunteers are welcome to join in any of these activities.

Your tasks would be

• kitchen or housekeeping work
• administrative support (e.g., simple office tasks, data entry)
• facility support such as gardening

The minimum stay period for the Work Exchange Program is two weeks. Participants are responsible for their own transportation fees (to and from). Participants’ room and board will be determined by the amount of time and/or skills made available to the center.
