Program details

Ancestree Herbals is a trusted producer of premium quality wildcrafted and certified organic medicinal herbs.
The farm is located in the rural Methow Valley on the Eastern slope of the North Cascades in Washington State with over 50 species of medicinal herbs, shrubs and trees, and a multitude of insects, rodents, birds, and occasionally, hungry deer.

Every season, 1-3 motivated and committed volunteers are needed who want to gain practical experience on a medicinal herb farm. You will learn what it takes to produce a diversity of herbs, working with a labor-intensive hands-on approach. Work would include seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, wild crafting, cleaning, drying, and packing herbs for shipment.

In exchange for 6 hours of volunteer work a day, 5.5 days a week, access to medicinal herbs that aren’t sold, an abundance of food from the garden, modest accommodation and some basic food staples are provided. In addition you will gain the experience of a successful small scale organic farm, as well as living in the beautiful Methow Valley and able to enjoy the amazing recreation of this area. Applicants will need to have their own car. The season is from the beginning of May until October, with possible options to stay on through the winter.
