Pegasus Riding Center, located in the scenic mountainous countryside of Southern Spain, is a haven for horse lovers and equestrian enthusiasts from around the world. Offering professional riding lessons, horse care, and outdoor activities, the center is renowned for its friendly atmosphere and commitment to providing quality equestrian experiences. In addition to its services, Pegasus Riding Center runs a work exchange program, welcoming helpers from across the globe. Participants in the program have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the day-to-day life of the center, assisting with horse care, maintenance, and other tasks, all while gaining hands-on experience and enjoying the beauty of rural Spain.
About the work exchange program
The Volunteer Work Exchange Program at Pegasus Riding Center offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with horses, develop new skills, and learn the inner workings of a riding school. In exchange for assistance.
The center provides basic accommodation, meals, and horse riding opportunities.
Your responsibilities
The center seeks help with a variety of tasks, including:
- Help with horse care.
- Assisting with lessons and groups (children and adults).
- General maintenance, stable jobs, building, DIY, and fixing fences.
- Cleaning and domestic chores.
- Building and construction projects.
- Digital marketing and promotion, such as creating videos for social media platforms.
Volunteers will be involved in the daily care of the horses, performing tasks such as :
- feeding and watering,
- grooming,
- cleaning tack,
- bathing horses,
- mucking out,
- tacking up/untacking, and assisting with riding lessons, primarily lead-rein lessons.
Some tasks are physically demanding, so a good level of fitness and strength is required. Flexibility in terms of duties, hours, and days is also essential, as daily responsibilities may change.If you are looking for a free holiday without putting the work in it wont work.
Requirements
- Hard working mentality.
- Outdoorsy, have the ability to rough it a little and enjoy camping.
- Energetic, able to work alone.
- Have a can do mentality.
- Want to train and improve your horsemanship skills.
- Want to improve your English and Spanish.
- Want to ride horses.
Accommodation
There are two accommodation types available for work exchangers:
- An off grid converted Army land rover camper which has a single bed that can also pull out to function as a double bed (sleeps 2). The accommodation would suit people who enjoy been outdoors & camping.
- A Caravan (shared) with 2 single beds available for extra sleeping space . This would suit friends travelling together, couples or solo travelers who don’t mind sharing a space.

- Public pool is a 5 minute walk from the riding centre (open July & August).
A minimum stay of two weeks is required, with a maximum of three volunteers at any one time.
