Located in the Southern Tuscany, one hour and half from Rome, half way between Orvieto and Siena, closely bordering with the regions of Umbria and Tuscany, the breathtakingly splendid 17th century castle, Castello di Santa Cristina, (complete with fairytale turret) has been the property of the noble Caterini family for generations.

Over the past ten years, the castle’s 18th Century ivy-covered farmhouse and out-buildings have been carefully restored to retain their authenticity. Now they offer fantastic accommodation, B&B or half board,  in  8 self-catering cottages and 14 private bedrooms. Rooms furnished with original pieces offer you the chance to enjoy a unique holiday in Italy.

A perfect location if you are looking at a true countryside holiday in the south of Tuscany where you can explore the various neighbouring historic towns such as  Orvieto, Sorano, Pitigliano and Bolsena. The castle also offers horse riding holidays for the tourists visiting the place.

There is a work exchange job opportunity for  a volunteer who has experience with horses in the summer months fromnJune to September. You must be a confident rider and/or happy to instruct, and have an outgoing personality.

There are 19 horses, 2 arenas, and miles of trails on the border of Tuscany. You would be expected to work 6 days a week, though if it is quieter, the owner is flexible with hours and free time. In return you will be offered free board in the Castle, breakfast, lunch and dinner in the restaurant and an amazing experience of horseback riding in Italy.

A minimum commitment of one month or more is required. Only EU nationals or VISA holders can be accepted!
