Earth Lodge is a mountain lodge, yoga destination, restaurant and organic avocado farm located about 7km outside Antigua, Guatemala. About the volunteer & work exchange program

Bilingual reception volunteers and yoga teachers needed from March

Duties include checking guests in and out of the hotel and restaurant, helping at the bar, answering emails and phone calls, and generally socializing and being available to guests during your exchange hours. Helpers should be comfortable working in a team environment. Helpers MUST be able to multitask as there are oftentimes a few things going on at once.

Requirements

• Reception helpers should have a social and flexible personality.
• Be at least 21 years old.
• Have good communication skills in English and and at least an intermediate level of Spanish (not negotiable, sorry!!).
• Helpers must have in-person customer service experience (hotel, bar or restaurant) , and be able to take initiative.
• Enjoy the great outdoors and what Earth Lodge has to offer (hiking, sauna, games, yoga, etc…).
• A minimum time commitment of 6 weeks (not negotiable) as it takes at least a few weeks to learn the duties of the reception position.

What’s in it for You?

• Yoga teachers make extra income and lead classes outside of their reception schedule.

PLEASE NOTE THAT EARTH LODGE DOES NOT NEED HELPERS THAT JUST TEACH YOGA, but need a receptionist who is also a yoga teacher. The lodge mostly has classes just on weekends, but they also offer private classes, which are increasing in popularity.

A Skype or WhatsApp interview will be arranged with potential volunteers to go over details and answer questions.

Management / reception / yoga teacher couple is needed

Earth Lodge is looking for a FULLY BILINGUAL couple (or two friends) that have 6-12 months of availability.

What’s in it for You?

This couple will be provided with:

• an hourly wage,
• a fully furnished house with a kitchen and internet,
• a food stipend,
• cheap drinks and a share of tips each month.

After the initial trial period, there will be a chance to earn extra incentive pay.

Skills and experience required

Certified Yoga Teacher– (one or both) that can lead group and private yoga classes (the money earned from yoga classes is IN ADDITION to the hourly pay). Preferred that teacher is comfortable leading classes in English & Spanish. Helps organize yoga workshops and special classes.

Assistant Manager – Must have customer service experience (hotels and/or restaurant) and management experience is preferred. This person must be friendly, able to multitask, have great communication skills, a flexible personality and have decent computer knowledge. Social media experience is preferred. The assistant manager provides support to the manager and owner and helps oversee the daily tasks of the reception volunteers. The assistant manager will fill in as needed at the bar, reception and restaurant and will oftentimes work alongside the reception staff. This person MUST be super organized and efficient.

Kitchen Management (not required, but helpful!) – Have some kitchen or restaurant experience. Communicates with the local kitchen girls and the management staff/volunteers to maintain and improve food quality. Helps with shopping lists, organizing kitchen inventory and supplies and food rotation.

Earth Lodge  doesn’t expect both people to be able to do all of these things. Ideally one person could be assistant manager/yoga teacher and the other kitchen help/reception or something similar.
Please, DO NOT apply if you don’t speak at least an intermediate level of Spanish and have at least 6 months of availability.
