Hostel Housekeeper/Groundskeeper Opportunity in Kona, Hawaii

About the free work exchange program

This is your chance to live and work in stunning Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. You will join a small international team that helps keep two welcoming hostels running, one in Kona just steps from the beach and another about ten miles south in Captain Cook. The program offers a great balance between work and leisure, giving you plenty of time to explore the island, enjoy the ocean, and experience local culture. Most team members stay between 30 and 90 days, creating a friendly community atmosphere.

Requirements

• Minimum stay: 30 days (longer stays of up to 90 days preferred).
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Be reliable, flexible, and ready to take initiative.
• Comfortable working both independently and with others.
• Able to handle physical work such as cleaning, gardening, and general maintenance.
• A positive attitude and respect for others are essential.
• Eligible to travel to and stay in the United States.

Your responsibilities

• Housekeeping: cleaning dorms, kitchens, lanais, and shared areas.
• Yard work: weeding, raking, and light gardening.
• General upkeep and organizing common spaces.
• Occasionally assisting with guests or basic maintenance task.s

Expect to work up to 25 hours per week, usually spread over 5 days, leaving plenty of time to explore the island and enjoy the beach life.
