About the work exchange program
Located in the heart of Antigua Guatemala, Somos Hostal offers a social and welcoming work exchange experience in a small, community-focused hostel. The space is known for its relaxed, home-like atmosphere while still being close to the city’s most popular bars, restaurants, and cultural spots. Volunteers become part of a close-knit team that focuses on creating memorable stays for guests from around the world.
Daily life combines social interaction, guest support, and fun activities around town. You might lead a group to salsa lessons, organize a night out, or help guests plan tours and transportation. The hostel also has a lively bar area where volunteers connect with travelers and keep the atmosphere engaging. Work is organized into different shifts so you can experience a mix of roles, including activities, bar service, and front desk support.
The schedule is around 25 hours per week, giving you a good balance between responsibilities and free time. Antigua itself offers plenty to explore, from volcano hikes to local markets and cultural events. The goal is to create a positive environment where both guests and volunteers enjoy their time and feel part of the community.
