Hostel volunteering in the wild north west coast of Scotland
Acheninver Hostel is a walk-in hostel overlooking the Summer Isles, in the midst of the North West Highland Geopark. it’s an ideal base for hill walking, climbing, kayaking, star gazing, photography, wildlife…rest.
Acheninver offers no wifi, poor mobile reception, low noise and light pollution, a chance to meet like-minded folk, books, games, and views all the way to the Outer Hebrides.
About the work exchange, volunteer program
Volunteer assistant warden is needed from the begining of March to the end of October, minimum four week stay. The hostek has one volunteer position in off peak times and have space for two from start of June to end of August. The exchange is for 4 hours work per day for 6 days a week in return for accommodation and £60 p/w towards food.
The help they need is mainly from 10.30am – 1.30pm with changeover and from 9pm-10pm with late guest check ins. You will need to be flexible to meet the ups and downs of each day.
Acheninver Hostel is an iconic old hostel, run by SYHA for 79 years and much loved in the village and beyondon the wild north west coast of Scotland.
No hostel experience necessary but you will need to demonstrate an ability to bring care and attention to the small and big tasks of resetting the hostel everyday as well as general soundness and friendliness.
