About the free volunteer program
Spend three months to a full year immersed in impactful conservation work across Iceland through a long-term volunteering opportunity with Worldwide Friends. This international work exchange program places you right at the heart of environmental protection, climate action, and community building in remarkable locations ranging from the outskirts of Reykjavik and the southern eco-village of Solheimar to northern Siglufjordur and western Bru. Global warming and marine plastic reduction serve as the core study themes for all camps, combining practical outdoor fieldwork with daily educational sessions. You will work alongside passionate international volunteers to tackle vital hands-on tasks, including coastal beach cleanups, tree planting, invasive lupine clearing, and greenhouse management.
