The Barre Center for Buddhist Studies, nestled in the serene town of Barre, Massachusetts is a mission-driven, community-supported educational nonprofit organization. BCBS is dedicated to integrating Buddhist study and practice. Its programs invite both newcomers and seasoned practitioners to deepen their practice, nurture wisdom, and foster a strong sense of community. The Monthly Working Guest Program offers a unique opportunity to study and practice the Dharma while living and contributing on campus. About the work exchange program
Your tasks as a monthly working guest will be varied and include maintaining the grounds, working in the garden, housekeeping, food preparation, and re-shelving library books.
Requirements
- Applicants must be able to bend and lift 50 pounds.
- Tidiness, attention to detail, initiative, willingness to learn.
- Intermediate English.
- Over 18 years old.
- Willingness to sign a liability waiver.
- One month time commitment.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Can be reached by staff by phone/email at least 1-2 times per day during work hours.
- Some gardening experience are also beneficial.

Your duties
- Working in the garden, including weeding, planting, and harvesting.
- Lawn care, mowing, raking, tending flower gardens, and/or snow removal.
- Cleaning kitchen areas, washing, organizing supplies, unloading delivery trucks, some food preparation, and sometimes filling in for a yogi job.
- Doing laundry, stocking paper products and cleaning supplies.
- Cleaning yogi rooms and preparing it for upcoming programs.
- Window washing, indoor painting, cleaning common areas.
A minimum stay of 1 month is required.
