Sugarloaf Permaculture is a permaculture homestead site based in the granite belt town of Stanthorpe in SouthEast Queensland, Australia (about 2 and a half hours from BrisbaneZ. The farm is off-grid in terms of using solar power only, cell phone network for phone, NBN fixed wireless for internet, and catching and storing rainwater.

About the work exchange program

Sugarloaf Permaculture welcomes anyone willing to come and help out and learn . There is 1 spare room with 3 single beds, a van suitable for a couple, or plenty of space for camping. Minimum stay would be 6 days. Your average daily work load would be 6 hours.

Your tasks might include

• planting seeds
• planting vegetables
• taking and planting cuttings
• digging holes in rocky ground
• cutting mulch with sickle
• sawing and splitting firewood
• mixing concrete
• helping with any building job
• harvesting food
• fencing
• looking after animals
• creating mulched garden beds
• watering plants with hose or buckets
• collecting rocks

Your  food will be mostly plant based and 100% organic,  guests will be able to share their cooking skills if desired.

There is a washing machine available to use, internet is limited to half an hour a day. Cell phone signal is just okay (best with Telstra or Aldi). Town is only 5 mins drive away

The farm follows permaculture ethics and principles: Care for Earth, Care for People, and Fair share.
