About the residency & work exchange program

Awake’s Team Residency Program offers a vibrant community living experience at their retreat center in Uvita, Costa Rica. Residents co-create daily life at Awake, immersing themselves in a conscious lifestyle complete with yoga, meditation, ecstatic dance, healthy food, river access, and abundant natural beauty—all at reasonable cost.

Requirements

• Minimum 3-month commitment to begin (90 days).
• Willing to work 6 days per week, contributing 20–25 hours weekly, depending on retreat schedules.
• Security deposit of $300 USD due upon enrollment.
• Strong sense of personal responsibility, enthusiasm for teamwork, and respect for communal and personal spaces (leave no trace policy, plastic-free kitchen rules) .

Your Responsibilities

• Support Awake’s operations through roles like event/program door steward, café cashier, and simple kitchen assistance.
• Help maintain cleanliness in private rooms and communal areas; monthly deep-cleaning occurs, but everyday care is expected.
• Store personal food items responsibly (plastic-free containers), and clean kitchen and living spaces thoroughly before departure.

Provide at least 30 days’ notice if planning to leave after acceptance; failure to fulfill the full term results in forfeiture of deposit or no refunds.
