The Open Pathway Retreat Centre is a place of peace where the focus is on providing teaching, care, nurturing, the clearing of emotions and balancing of body, mind and spirit for all who desire peace, harmony, health and progress.
About the work exchange & volunteer program
Volunteers are much needed to help provide the nurturing care that is so important to students and guests coming to the Centre. Volunteers may come for an hour, a day, a week or up to several months. They work alongside the spiritual family who run the Centre in exchange for bed/board.
Some call this joyful giving, Seva or Karma Yoga ~ in other words serving for the joy and the progress which comes with many blessings. Working, Meditating, sharing meals and companionship, laughter and love, it is a way of showing gratitude for all we have been given in our lives. Knowing that many people will benefit from our endeavours brings a warm glow to the heart.
Although there are opportunities to volunteer for seva throughout the year, there are dedicated seva weeks in February and May each year. February 4th-19th is for renovating and refurbishing the Centre indoors and May 6th-14th for preparing the gardens for the Open Garden Festival which is held on Saturday May 11th, and then clearing up after that day of fun and festivity.
If you have any skills, they would be put to good use! But you could also learn some skills, have fun and meet like minded souls at the same time.
