Tuscany work exchange program in a retreat center, Italy

Villa Vrindavana is a retreat center with the mission of providing spiritual retreat to people in general regardless of their gender, race in Tuscany, Italy. They host many yoga programs, seminars, courses, festivals and accomodate many international guests and groups who regularly come to participate in various events.

In the traditional Tuscan garden of Villa Vrindavana there is the vegetarian center Govinda, placed in a historical building with ancient arches and exposed brick walls. In warm weather, visitors can also dine in the outdoor space, surrounded by beautiful flowers and trees and with a breathtaking panoramic view. The main building of Villa Vrindavana houses the Museum of Sacred Art.  This large historical space is about 600 square meters on two floors and accommodates various cultural events throughout the year. There is also a working cow sanctuary and dairy farm where you could help out during your stay.

About the work exchange program

Villa Vrindavana has opened a volunteer program recently which allows young people from all over the world to spend weeks or even months in this beautiful place and experience life in community based on spiritual principles of peace.

Volunteering in Tuscany – meditation retreatLifestyle in this unique place is based on the teachings of ancient Vedic texts like Bhagavad Gita that promote harmony, simplicity, mindfulness and devotion. Many spiritually inclined or just curious people visit this place to experience ashram life where they can participate in the practices of Krishna Bhakti, yoga and meditation on a daily basis or longer. The heart of this place is a Temple available for quiet meditation or for participation in conferences, ceremonies and kirtans -devotional singing.

Your tasks will be the following:

  • general maintenance
  • cleaning
  • gardening
  • farm help
  • landscaping
  • kitchen help

For the volunteers there is plenty of opportunities to engage in yoga, meditation and other spiritual activities (if they desire) besides daily required activities like helping with

Accommodation and food

Accommodation is shared gender-based dormitory and  three fresh vegetarian (and vegan) meals are provided daily.


  • Volunteers are expected to help out for up to 5 hours 5 days a week or 4 hours 6 days a week.
  • Minimum period you can stay is 2 weeks and maximum 2 months. Longer stay is possible for those who wish to experience ashram life on a deeper level.
  • As this is a community that propagates non violence and virtuous lifestyle, meat eating and fish or eggs as well as drinking alcohol and taking drugs are not allowed.
  • Dress code is decent.

Please note that towels won’t be provided during your stay.
