Work exchange opportunity in a balance retreat center in New Zealand
Restore Balance Retreat is situated in the mighty Motueka Valley River (New Zealand) with over 3 hectares of native forest with endless bird songs making it an ideal place for the body to heal and restore balance. It runs retreats and events throughout the year,  provides accommodation, and also has weekly yoga schedules for those staying on the property and the local community.  There are  extensive fruit trees and vegetable gardens in the retreat center providing guests with nutritious healthy organic meals. In addition, the gardens on the premises provide plenty of space for walks and an immersion in nature to support a relaxing stay.

About the work exchange program

Restore Balance Retreat provides work exchangers with an opportunity:

  • to live and work in a caring environment to develop skills
  • to enable participants to live in a more healthy and conscious way
  • be a part of a community of like-minded individuals in which to connect and appreciate the unique skills each individual has to offer.

Work exchangers has to be available at least 2 weeks to 1 month , 6 days schedule work a week with 1 day off is required. You will be asked to work 5 hours each day, plus 1 hour for meals/break time is provided. As Restore Balance Retreat can host  only 2 work exchange participants at a time.

Comfortable accommodation with firm mattresses and good quality pillows and linen are provided to aid in a good nights sleep!

About the work

The work at Restore Balance Retreat is varied and depending on the time of year can range from planting, weeding, compositing, and pruning.  There are always a number of projects that can involve such things as creating pathways in the forest, building works and repair works.

If  gardening and outdoor work are not your favourite there are jobs to help with the operation of the accommodation, this can involve cleaning, washing, bed making, preparing meals, dishwashing and helping guests with general inquiries.

What to bring

  • Appropriate shoes (there are some gumboots on site)
  • Old clothes to wear, especially if you are working outside
  • Alarm clock
  • Sunscreen for warmer months
  • Toiletries
