Englischhausen is a six-day residential English course that takes place in Germany. The model sees between 15 and 20 students living alongside an equal number of native English-speaking professional people, from various countries and backgrounds (the latter being the volunteers that we refer to as “Anglos”). The idea is to create a 100% English-speaking environment, where students are exposed to many different native accents and have a chance to practise their English in real-life situations.

To be a volunteer at Englischhausen (an “Anglo“) you must be a native English speaker with enough life and career experiences to keep you talking for up to 16 hours a day.  Your job on the program will not be so much as to “teach” English, but to expose the German participants to the English language in its natural form through conversations, presentations, and fun, light-hearted activities like group work and theatre sketches.

Volunteers receive
