Volunteering in a Swedish retreat & yoga center
Shambala is an intimate yoga community and retreat centre in the middle of the Swedish forest in Skinnskatteberg. The retreat center project started in 2005 out of a vision to live in communion with nature and dedicated to a life of art, community and yoga. What once was an artist community of yogis simply living in nature, slowly, throughout the years, it opened its doors more and more to those that wished to experience this way of living in the form of retreats.
Located just two hours away from Stockholm, the area is easily accessible and makes a great option for a short break to discover the Swedish outdoors. The lakes and dense forests of Bergslagen, around Skinnskatteberg, are some of the very best of regions in Sweden to see abundant flora and wild animals, a fantastic place to encounter the magnificent “king of the Swedish forest”, known as moose or elk, wolves, bears, lynx, owls and more.
