Hollyhock Learning Center & Community is situated 160 kilometres (100 miles) north of Vancouver on Cortes Island, British Columbia. From the driftwood scattered beaches that flank Hollyhock, to the rugged gorges of Desolation Sound and the mystic rainforest trails of Smelt Bay Provincial Park, you will be hard pressed to not find something amazing around every corner. Hollyhock is an internationally renowned centre for learning and well-being presenting over 100 social learning programs and conferences year around.
About the work exchange program
As a work exchanger you are more than welcome to apply for a month-long work exchange program at Hollyhock. Work eaxchangers will be helping in the following areas: kitchen, housekeeping, garden, hosting, maintenance, and production. Participants need to
Requirements
- You have an open, positive, curious, and willing attitude.
- You have the capacity for sustained moderate to strenuous physical work.
- You are capable of working several hours at a stretch.
- You enjoys working with others as a team.
- You are comfortable living in a collective situation.
- You are emotionally and psychologically stable.
- You cheerfully take on essential physical tasks such as housekeeping and food preparation.
- You are able and willing to follow all covid-19 safety protocols as required, including sanitizing and mask wearing.
Accommodation & food
Comfortable shared accommodations with other work exchange participants (up to two beds per room) are available. 3 delicious gourmet Hollyhock meals each day will be served.
Starting dates
Your work exchange program starts on the 1st of the month: in May, June, July, August, or September, 30 hours work /week is required .
Flexible dates also available. Longer-term work exchanges may be considered, subject to space availability and performance review.
