Teach English in rural areas of Thailand

Peace And Happiness Foundation provides free bi-lingual education to poor children in Thailand. The non-profit organization is looking for qualified primary school teachers from a native English speaking country to teach at primary schools in rural areas of the country.

Volunteers are needed urgently for students from grade 1 to grade 6. Teachers are asked to commit at least 2 months and will be provided by accommodation at host families near the schools and food.

Requirements for volunteers

• have a degree or be a college student
• have basic knowledge of computers
• be of good character and suitable to be around children
• English fluency

About the work

The teaching program requires you to monitor a classroom of 10 – 15 underprivileged children for 4 hours a day. You will need to help them do the activities based on the lesson plans and encourage them to speak English with you. If you feel like helping to teach English outside of the 4 hour requirement, it can be also arranged.

Necessary documents, qualifications for your application

• copy of passport and visa (tourist or non-immigrant B)
• medical certificate from a general doctor. It is usually just the regular check – throat, lungs, blood test, stating that the volunteer is healthy
• criminal Record and Background Check report or in some countries, Police Statement
• letter of recommendation in English from a licensed professional-service person such as teacher, lawyer, chartered accountant, engineer and doctor, stating that the volunteer is of good character and suitable to be around young children
• travel Insurance that will cover the length of stay in Thailand
