About the free volunteer program
Twice a year, Amara Valley welcomes volunteers for 4 to 6 weeks to actively participate in its transformative project. Volunteers play a vital role in maintaining this unique retreat center, contributing to a space dedicated to healing, connection, and sustainable living.
Responsibilities
Volunteers commit to 5 days a week, working 6 hours daily. While experience in areas like permaculture, carpentry, cooking, cleaning, or gardening is appreciated, the most important qualities are a positive attitude, a love for nature, and a willingness to contribute in various ways.
Your tasks could include:
- Maintenance – Assisting with repairs and construction projects.
- Land Management – Caring for the outdoor areas, gardens, and chickens.
- Clean-up Support – Helping the Amara Kitchen with cleaning and organizing.
- Retreat Assistance – Supporting the housekeeping team in maintaining shared spaces.
Requirements
- Minimum age: 21 years.
- Valid documentation or visa to work in Spain (EU).
- Commitment to the full chosen period.
- Intermediate English (most meetings are in English).
- Selection process with the Volunteer Coordinator.

Volunteer tasks shift according to the retreat schedule. Before retreats, efforts focus on preparation, such as making beds and cleaning shared spaces. During retreats, volunteers assist with cleaning and kitchen duties. The remaining days are dedicated to gardening, carpentry, and maintenance, along with daily tasks like tending to the chickens and managing compost.
The program does not cover flights, travel insurance, personal insurance, internal transport, or visa costs. To confirm participation, a €50 fee is required to cover basic expenses. This fee is refundable if canceled at least 15 days before arrival.
