Volunteers needed in a biodynamic farm and life sharing community in Western Canada

This volunteer program takes place on a biodynamic farm community located on Vancouver Island’s beautiful west coast. Surrounded by forests and close to the ocean, it offers a peaceful environment where people can live, learn, and work together. Both short term and long term volunteer opportunities are available for those who want to experience community life, meaningful connections, and hands-on service.

About the free volunteer program

The Glenora Farm community is built around life-sharing, where adults with developmental disabilities live and work alongside volunteers and caregivers. Daily activities include helping on the farm, working in gardens, and supporting creative workshops such as arts, cooking, and music. Volunteers, often called coworkers, become part of the rhythm of community life, joining in household activities, shared meals, and seasonal celebrations. Placements are available for several months or for a longer stay, with room, board, and a modest monthly stipend provided.

Requirements

• Volunteers should be open to living in a shared household and taking part in daily life together.
• A spirit of teamwork, patience, and respect for others is essential.
• Physical ability to help with gardening or farm tasks is useful, and flexibility is important as the work can vary with the seasons.
• No previous experience in farming or caregiving is required, only a willingness to learn and participate.
