Ananda Suruci is a serene 14-acre sanctuary located in a rural part of southwest Taiwan. It features a large yoga and meditation center, a food forest, bamboo groves, a rainwater collection system, four ponds, and a beautiful lotus pond garden. It hosts monthly Yoga Fasting Retreats, Permaculture Design Courses, student camps, and seminars throughout the year.
The farm also includes an organic vegetable garden and a newly planted orchard with over 40 varieties of fruit trees. Ananda Suruci offers year-round volunteer opportunities for those interested in organic farming, providing hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture in a peaceful, community-oriented environment.
About the free volunteer program
This volunteer program guided by the principles of permaculture and blends sustainable living with spiritual growth. Volunteers become part of a dynamic environment where their skills and enthusiasm can contribute to various ongoing initiatives. Whether for a short visit or an extended stay, everyone is welcome to join the journey toward a more balanced and conscious way of life.
Your tasks
Volunteer work at Ananda Suruci varies by season and is carried out approximately 6 hours per day, from Monday to Saturday, with Sundays off.
Tasks may include planting, harvesting, composting, mulching, irrigating, weeding, grass cutting, and caring for fruit trees.
In addition to farm work, volunteers may help with cooking, cleaning, light construction, maintenance, jam and pickle production, and bakery support. There is always room for creativity, and beautifying the space is highly appreciated.
Requirements
Ananda Suruci welcomes people from all backgrounds, especially those with skills in farming, permaculture, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, vegetarian cooking, baking, or food preservation.
Qualified permaculturists are particularly encouraged to apply.
A willingness to work, learn, and live in a collective environment is essential. Volunteers are also asked to respect the dietary guidelines, which exclude onions, garlic, and mushrooms.
