Work and live at a small inn in Central Vermont
Royalton Bed and Breakfast is a small inn and pie-making business in the White River Valley of Central Vermont. It’s a farmhouse with a lot of history built in 1840’s. The inn is located on 130 acres of property, both fields and woods.
About the work exchange program
Royalton Bed and Breakfast has a number of guest bedrooms in the main house, one separate guest cabin, and some glamping spaces. In addition, they make pies and quiches to sell at area farmers’ markets.
Energetic and friendly people are needed to help out for 20-25 hours per week in exchange for room and board. Depending on your interests, you could be in charge of planting, weeding, and harvesting the large garden; helping to make the week’s pies and quiches; cleaning and decorating guest spaces and dealing with guests’ needs; fixing up the historic barn and building more glamping spaces; or many other things! Helping out in cooking communal meals and keeping the house clean is also part of the duties of a work exchanger.
Accommodation is a bedroom in the main house or a glamping space in the barn, depending on the season and your preferences. Bathrooms are shared, as is the kitchen. You’ll eat family-style dinners, and all food is provided (people fix their own breakfast and lunch depending on the day’s schedule).
Work schedules are mostly flexible, and there is plenty of time to hike in the surrounding woods, swim in the river, and explore the beauty of Vermont!
