Work exchange opportunity at a B&B on the beautiful island of Gozo, Malta

Tucked away on the peaceful island of Gozo, this charming B&B and freediving retreat offers a unique opportunity to live close to the sea and nature. Set in a beautifully restored 300-year-old farmhouse, the place combines island life with a welcoming international atmosphere. Volunteers help with the daily rhythm of the house, keeping spaces clean, cozy and ready for guests from all over the world. Beyond work, there is time to explore the cliffs, join stretching or breathwork sessions and even discover the magic of freediving. It is a perfect spot for those who enjoy meaningful tasks, calm surroundings and meeting people with a shared love for simple, mindful living.

About the free work exchange program

Words from your host

“In the most beautiful part of Gozo, Malta we run our freediving school and B&B; right by the cliffs and with the ocean at the end of our street. We have holistic backgrounds and visions to better the future together. We are looking for motivated people with initiative and an eye for cleaning. Our home consists of a 300 year old farmhouse, where we need assistance with everyday tasks such as cleaning inside and outside areas as well as maintaining/repairing facilities around our diving school.

We at Innerdive are originally from Denmark, but the freediving center and B&B are hubs for meeting new people from all over the world. There is ample opportunity to learn and practice different languages, and the possibility of cultural exchange and making new friends are a big part of the experience here. You will have the opportunity to learn about local history and if you like yoga and meditation you may want to delve into this in the stretching and relaxation sessions provided by our freediving instructors.

Activities and daily tasks

Daily cleaning, laundry, tidying, shopping and maintenance in and around the houses. An interest in, or experience with, social media and capturing daily content to support our team is a plus, but not a requirement!

Our days start at 7 am by preparing the house and the yard for the day. Sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, clearing out and washing bed linen are some of the other daily tasks. Our guests should feel welcome and accommodated in the surroundings of the house any time of the day and we do expect our volunteers to prioritise the work. The work varies from 4-6 hours per day with one day off per week.

A few rules

The freediving community is special, and we’re keen to share our way of life with you. If you’re interested in meditation and yoga, you’re welcome to learn from our experienced instructors, who organise stretching and breathing sessions several days a week in high season, less often in low season. We invite you to join the snorkeling trips if time, space and equipment availability permit it.

If you have a drivers’ license, this will be very helpful as we get around by car on the island. We drive on the left side here, and will only ask you to drive when you are comfortable doing this! Because of the driving tasks, we are unfortunately only able to accept volunteers of 25 years or older for insurance reasons.

We do not allow smoking on our premises.

About Gozo

Gozo is a small island and a great holiday destination. We enjoy an abundance of peace and quiet in combination with the hustle and bustle of our B&B where freedivers from all walks of life come through. The activities that the island offers therefore also varies with the season, the people and the weather. Which is what makes our little place so special.

The low season (November-April) diving guests are fewer and we focus our energy more on preparing the location for the next season, repairing broken facilities, building new, tidying storage areas etc. The island is more quiet in this time and in your spare time you can enjoy beautiful hikes in the greens of the cliffs, go climbing or enjoy the city of Victoria, a short bus ride away. We still dive in this season but less often.

The high season (April-November) will be more social as we have many freedivers coming through our school. The island is more busy and there are many local activities, festivals and events to participate in. Volunteers will take care of our houses and also have the opportunity to join in the water when time and space permits it.

We hope you will reach out and help us as we share our passion for freediving and the beautiful island of Gozo with our guests and you.
