The International Kadampa Retreat Center – Grand Canyon is a 73 bedroom hotel set on over a million acres of beautiful national forest near Flagstaff, Arizona. The conditions are perfect for contemplation, relaxation and a deeper experience of meditation.
About the work exchange & volunteer program
The IKRC working visit program is a great way to experience life at IKRC Grand Canyon and to act on your compassion. By volunteering, you will join a joyful spiritual community and participate in creating meaningful events.
In exchange for 35 hours of voluntary work per week, working visitors receive dormitory accommodation, three vegetarian meals per day, and the opportunity to attend daily prayers and General Program classes held at the center.
Jobs vary depending on the season and your skills.
Your responisbilities would be
- Meal preparation and cleanup,
- light housekeeping,
- preparing visitor accommodations,
- office work,
- light yard or garden work.
Requirements & restrictions
- The following are not permitted at IKRC Grand Canyon: illegal drugs, alcohol, or cigarettes.
- Health insurance is not provided for volunteers. You will be responsible for your own healthcare needs, including doctor visits, prescriptions, and hospitalization.
- If you are accepted as a volunteer, please be prepared to provide a photo I.D. (e.g. driver’s license or passport) upon arrival.
- The working visit can be ended early by IKRC Grand Canyon if volunteers engage in behavior that disrupts the tranquil meditative and retreat environment.
