Bolivia work exchange in a retreat- healing centerPisatahua is an integrative plant-medicine and ayahuasca retreat, located in a remote area of the Bolivian Amazon. Found in the heart of the Aquicuana Reserve, the 80 hectare center is situated in one of the most biodiverse areas of the world.

This idyllic environment provides an incomparable setting to immerse yourself in the beauty of the Amazon Jungle, while working with traditional plant medicines.

Pisatahua providex integral health services including dietary medicines, detoxification cleanses and mind-body practices.  They work with numerous medicinal plants and healing-modalities to further holistic health of the mind, body, heart and spirit.

About the program

Individuals with a sincere interest in making a positive and lasting contribution are invited to become part of the Pisatahua community.

All volunteer positions are completely free.  All volunteers receive a private-room, healthy vegetarian meals, and access to ceremonies and activities at no cost.

Skilled professionals with experience in holistic-health practices, yoga, meditation, botany, mental health, mycology, cooking, sustainable development, permaculture and oil/soap making are needed the most although applications of all kinds are welcome and everyone is encouraged to apply.

Below are a few specific (yet flexible) roles to fill:

• Plant Guide Specialist
• Mycologist
• Permaculture Specialist
• Oil/Soap Maker
• Mental Health Specialist

Pisatahua also receives “general” volunteers who can assist on a range on projects.  Tasks depend on the applicant’s experience and interest.

Responsibilities

  • Kitchen help: cooking, serving food, and keeping the area clean
  • Setting up, organizing and planning guest arrivals
  • Translation services
  • Community garden work: planting, weeding, composting, harvesting, etc.
  • Healing services such as: massage, meditation, yoga, art therapy, etc.
  • Ceremony sitter: provide basic assistance to guests during ceremony
  • Content writing/ blogging
  • Videography and video editing

Qualifications

  • Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred
  • Minimum time commitment of 1 month
  • Capacity to collaborate and work in a team environment
  • Physical and mental stability
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Flexibility and patience

What you will receive

Pisatahua provides dedicated individuals the rare opportunity to live in one of the most biodiverse areas of the Amazon, while learning about plant medicines from traditional healers. All volunteers receive free-accommodation, clean-water, access to kitchen, some local transportation, and access to on-site activities.  During retreats, volunteers will be provided the same food as our guests.  Volunteers will also have access to our communal-home and non-profit office in the city of Riberalta with office spaces, accommodations, kitchen, internet, etc.
