Song of the Morning is a non-profit yoga retreat center located on 800 acres of rolling countryside in Michigan’s northern woodlands that welcomes truth-seekers from all paths and traditions to experience spiritual refreshment and relaxation.

Work exchange is a fun and life-changing experience and also hard work. If you’re looking for a retreat, work exchange probably isn’t the experience for you. But if you like to work hard and want to help support the Ranch through service, it is a wonderfully rewarding experience.

Work exchange commitments run for a minimum of one month and can go for as long as several months. Work exchangers work between 24 to 34 hours per week in support of staff members and their daily duties. In return, work exchangers receive lodging, delicious vegetarian meals and special benefits, including:

• Inner growth on the fast track
• Yoga classes
• Meditation with like-minded seekers
• Unlimited opportunities to practice karma yoga (the yoga of selfless service)
• Access to 800 beautiful acres of pristine forest including hiking trails

Work Exchange Volunteers agree to the sadhana requirements, plus a weekly (or bi-weekly) check-in meeting with a supervisor. These meetings are designed to bring the work exchange volunteer into a circle of support and accountability.

Opportunities are available serving in the garden, in the kitchen, assisting in day-to-day operations of our yoga retreat, and gaining professional experience by helping to coordinate the annual summer yoga festival.
