Do you dream of becoming a farmer? Do you want to learn about self sustainability? Join Goat’s Pride Dairy goat farm in Abbotsford, BC, Canada! Goat’s Pride Dairy produces locally made organic goat milk, and delivering it to health conscious consumers through grocery stores in the southern British Columbia.

About the work exchange & farmstay opportunity

Goat’s Pride Dairy has approximately 150 goats total, also they raise about 50 chickens and 50 ducks. The son of the owners processes the milk on site , makes yogurt and cheese. There is a small on farm store and they sell at local farm markets as well.

What’s in it for You?

You would learn and work on the farm in exchange for room and board. There is a small cabin for the guys and a bedroom in the main house for gals. Breakfast and dinner are prepared for you and eaten with the family. Lunches are more casual and you can make your own or choose leftovers from the fridge.

The chores include:

  • milking,
  • feeding goats, ducks, chickens, guinea fowl,
  • pen cleaning,
  • fencing,
  • and helping with the farm’s food waste reduction program,
  • you can learn about birthing and assisting in labour as well as baby care.,
  • maintenance.

You will learn about composting, gardening, harvesting and canning in season etc. There is apple juice production in the fall where you could help out as well.

Work exchangers are expected 30 hours per week, but the more involved you are, the more you will learn!
